What should I do when my StarID doesn't work to login to a library resource?
I can't get into a library database with my StarID. My StarID works for D2L and MavMail but not the library resources. The errors states the credentials are not recognized.
Answer
Some students and staff can log into services like MavMail and D2L with their StarID, but not our library resources such as databases. Login errors may be due to a password syncing process starting at the MinnState level.
If you receive an error that states your credentials are not recognized, login using our new multi-factor authentication (MFA) and try to access the resource again. If the problem persists, contact library staff via our Ask a Librarian service.
Logging into library databases using MFA is a two-step process.
- On the Microsoft login screen, enter your StarID email address and StarID password.
- For students, the StarID email address looks like: xx1234xx@go.minnstate.edu
- For employees, the StarID email address looks like: xx1234xx@minnstate.edu
- You will then be prompted to provide additional information by responding to a text message, phone call, or through the Microsoft Authenticator App.
