Can you pull books for me and have them ready to pick up in the library?

Staff can pull library items and have them ready for you.

Answer

Yes, you can request that library staff can gather books and other physical library items for you using the following steps.

This service is not available for items such as:

  • Textbooks and course materials in the Reserves Collection
  • Multimedia equipment like laptops

Start at the Library Services homepage (this link will open in a new window).

  1. Use the MavScholar search box toward the top of the screen to search for your item.
  2. In MavScholar, click the title.
  3. On the next screen under the How to get it section, Sign In using your StarID information.
  4. After signing in, click on Hold in the How to get it section or the item has multiple parts, click Request.
  5. A brief form will display. Click Send Request. The next screen should confirm your submitted request.
  6. You can request multiple items by repeating steps the above.

This process alerts library staff to gather books and other items. We fill requests Monday-Friday. Most items are ready for pickup in under 24 hours, but requests placed after 11:00am on Fridays are not pulled until Monday.

When requested items are ready for pickup, you will receive an email for hold pick up. After you receive your email notification and during library hours, go to the Circulation Desk (near the entrance) with your MavCard to pick up your items.

Not coming to Mankato? Sign up for Document Delivery to request items and have them mailed to you.

The fastest option is to visit Memorial Library (see the library’s hours) and find the book on the shelf or ask library staff for help.
